Curse of the Buffalo Bills

The “curse” of the Buffalo Bills is not football legend.  The curse is what rises from the bleachers as the Bills remain the Bills and in true Bills’ reputation lose and lose and lose.  It is saving to blame a “curse”.  The McKinley Curse, the O.J. Curse, they traded the Braves Curse, and the list goes along these lines in a paranormal way to try to explain away what is going on in Orchard Park.

Curses have been clung to by fans as tenaciously as the ultimate trophy would be, if ever they could touch the game’s grand prize.  The press can turn a phrase into a franchise legend of failed dreams and season after season disappointments, but the press doesn’t cause a curse or keep one going.  William McKinley shot, O.J. Simpson turned criminal, or a basketball team who needs to move to survive does not a curse make.   A curse keeps bad teams filling some seats.  Curses sell and curses keep hopes alive well after teams die.  The Buffalo Bills do not have to die.  They have spent too many seasons doing just that.  The Bills do not need to cling to the Curse Conspiracy either.  The Bills need to become the Un-Bills
.
The Red Sox did it.  The conservative Boston baseball team grew hair, long beautiful hair.  The team stepped away from the northeastern conservative mold to re-shape, re-group, and realize a curse is an excuse.  The Sox finally came to play ball and played it with the passion and the love for the game too few high-paid players know how to play in most sports.  Buffalo needs to study Red Sox behavior.  Buffalo needs to come to play ball instead of insisting a player “play ball” the Western New York way.
Western New York is no less conservative than Boston.  The area does it to you.  Think about the Bills’  years of Cookie Gilchrist, O.J., Stew Barber, Jim Kelly, and a list can (and has) been compiled of great players who came and went in Western New York.   The “Curse” is, very good and some great players are reduced to mediocre.  Not always in stats.  Impressive performances and memorable seasons have given rise to hope in the Buffalo fan.  The very good and great players have been reduced to coach and owner conservatism.  Big names and big games have presented in Buffalo.  Buffalo has been ripe and ready for the ultimate victory.  However, when the big name comes to own the town, they instead become the town due to the coach and owner conservative credo and the Bills continue to lose Lebron, in Buffalo, would hear, “We don’t throw talcum in Buffalo.”  Damon would have had to cut his hair, and Sir Charles would have had to hold his tongue.  The coaches of the Bills and the owner do not want to win the Super Bowl.  They hope to win the Super Bowl.  They will be quite pleased to win the Super Bowl, but they don’t want to win it.  They continue to put the players in place to win.  Impressive, superstar status players who can carry teams, and Super Bowls, but until the front office and the front sideline decision makers want to win with winners, they will continue to lose.  Players have come to win.  Players are not permitted to win.   Namath could not have led the Bills to the trophy.  Bradshaw, Montana, Csonka and put a list together, could not win in Buffalo, unless Buffalo were to allow them to be Namath, Csonka, etc.

The fans want to win.  They will cling to a “Curse” and they will continue to curse until they win.  They will come out in knee deep snow and sub-zero weather; they will crowd against television sets; they will drink cheap can beer; they will plead with the football gods in reverent profanity to win, because the Bills’ fans want to win.  The fans know how to win.  They know that the conservative New Yorkian mentality keeps them in Buffalo in the winter long after others have gone south for good.  They know the same mentality keeps very good and great players from being the longed for “Curse “ breaker.  The Buffalo fan will hold onto the Bills with hope that someone will take the Bills from the hands of the coaches and the owner and will turn them like the Red Sox were turned.
The road to winning the Super Bowl for the Buffalo Bills is not necessarily a long and winding road.  It is one with obvious signs pointing the way.  Sign one:  hire a coach who wants to win and knows how to coach players who are very good and great on the field, off the field and in the press and don’t change who or what they are to fit the mold growing along Lake Erie.  Sign two:  Ralph Wilson detour.  Take another direction.

The Buffalo Bills need to become the Un-Bills for at least one season.  Their very good and great players must become Un-Bills.  Bills-like behavior cannot be tolerated on the field and off.  The front office and the sideline decision makers need to step aside to let the town that put hot wings on the map put their hot shots on the field to strut their hot stuff before the cold wind blowing across the lake from Canada whistles through empty seats in Orchid Park.

    Highlights

For 2011 A few teams stand out as going to the Super Bowl, the San Diego Chargers, the New England Patriots, the New Orleans Saints, and the Atlanta Falcons. They all seem to have made key changes to effect their game for the positive. Out of those four, the Patriots and the Falcons really have honed in to what they needed to accomplish over the off season, and so they will be in the Super Bowl.

New York GiantsNew York Giants
We have 50 yard line tickets for all home and away New York Giants games. The New York Giants have been surprisingly quiet. Wide receivers Amani Toomer and Plaxico Burress are not part of the team anymore. Who will fill that void? Does Eli Manning have it again? Even if Eli has got it, they would be a long shot for the Super Bowl

Atlanta FalconsAtlanta Falcons
We stock tickets for all Atlanta Falcon NFL games at the Georgia Dome. Atlanta has made all the right moves this off season. They have kept all their key players, quarterback Matt Ryan, running back Michael Turner, and wide reciever Roddy White. They added an excellent tight end in Tony Gonzalez, and linebacker Mike Petersen. They are ripe for a repeat performance from last year.
